About HDK Consultants Limited

HDK Consultants Ltd was registered in 2001 in United Kingdom to act as the publisher and distributor of our cleaning service marketing products within United Kingdom, United States and the Commonwealth countries.

Prior to this the cleaning service marketing system was tested in Europe and in United States. It was felt essential to create a new UK-based presence to offer these products to every part of the world with convenient communication lines all through the planet for providing support, consulting and marketing services.

HDK Consultants Ltd acts as a platform for launching a long series of tried-out and tested products. The cleaning service marketing system was created in a five-year marketing project with more than 50 cleaning companies participating and during which thousands of facility managers were interviewed.

 

How the cleaning service marketing project started

In the beginning of 90's, a team of top marketing experts were approached by a group of cleaning companies and presented with a challenge.

They were told that it was NOT possible to obtain a constant flow of prospective contract cleaning customers and get these to accept a reasonably price quote at any meaningful success ratio.

The status of cleaning work was extremely low and quotes were compared mainly on the price given alone. It was practically impossible to be positively different from any competitor because facility managers considered all cleaning services "identical."

The marketing of contract cleaning services had stagnated into using only a few methods and everyone was competing with price... which furthe reduced the status of the service as well as the motivation of the owner and his staff.

Add to this the worryingly low profit margin of the cleaning industry and it painted a bleak picture.

So, could we help to create a whole new approach for contract cleaning services, one that would not only offer good success ratio in finding new customers but also increase the value of the service in the eyes of clients... to a degree so that higher-priced quotes could be won?

In fact, I personally thought it would be a walk in the park. I mean... how difficult could it be?

Hmm... well, looking back at it now I can tell you that it was PLENTY DIFFICULT!

In fact, I now realise how foolish I was to take the whole thing ON... and had we KNOWN what a gigantic undertaking it became we never would have accepted the challenge...

It was a HUGE job.

We found out that the traditional marketing techniques had simply lost their effect in selling cleaning services. With those techniques, the only way of competing was by PRICE... which was just the thing our assignment aimed to achieve freedom from!

So, we had to begin from the very beginning. We surveyed the views of facility managers several times with various surveys. We took in the practices and issues of contract cleaning, listening to the views of cleaning professionals.

We tested, tried, tested again, tried again... and finally achieved something we could start piloting with cleaning companies.

All in all, it became a massive undertaking with more than 50 cleaning companies participating in everyday marketing work.

It took FIVE YEARS of full-time work from our team.
